Jefferson Council adopts affordable housing and inclusionary zoning ordinances

NJ JEFFERSON — Jefferson Council adopts affordable housing and inclusionary zoning ordinances amid state aid requests. Council President Josh Kalish and the Township Council approved Ordinance #26-04 establishing nine Inclusionary Overlay Zones requiring 20 percent affordable housing set-asides in multifamily developments, and Ordinance #26-05 conforming township regulations to state Fair Housing Act requirements. The council simultaneously adopted Resolution #26-93, requesting emergency state funding to offset a 4.8 million dollar school budget shortfall driven by 60 percent reductions in state aid attributed to Highlands Act development restrictions.
The council tabled Ordinance #26-01 on shipping container standards pending legal review.
