Council _ Township of Jefferson · Meeting of January 21, 2026

NJ JEFFERSON — Jefferson Council awards five-year solid waste contract to Blue Diamond Disposal. The $16.531 million garbage collection agreement, the lowest of two bids, begins March 1, 2026, and includes twice-weekly trash pickup, once-weekly recycling, and seasonal vegetative waste services; the first-year cost is $2.65 million. Council unanimously renewed professional services contracts for township attorney ($139,000), labor attorney ($60,000), municipal planning ($80,000 after a Councilman Schultz motion to reduce from $100,000), and water operations ($145,000).

A temporary budget amendment adopted by Council increases the allowable temporary appropriation percentage to 35 percent, effective January 1, 2026, per new state legislation signed December 23, 2025.
