NJ JEFFERSON — Jefferson Council advances 2026 budget despite record tax increases. Administrator Debi Millikin reported the budget began $2 million in deficit; after cutting $1,458,702, the township faces garbage tax increase of $22.95 (6.85 percent), municipal tax of $105.19 (3.74 percent), and library tax of $20.24 (14.8 percent), based on a $331,660 average assessed home. Mayor Eric Wilsusen called this the worst budget year of his tenure, noting the township has no new ratables or revenues to offset uncontrollable fixed costs and lacks contingencies.
Three Council members backed advancing the introduction on March 25; Councilman Birmingham sought more time to review.
