NJ JEFFERSON — Jefferson Township Council adopts major zoning ordinances for shipping containers and billboards. The Council unanimously approved Ordinance 26-10, permitting temporary shipping containers for renovation projects up to 180 days in all districts while restricting permanent containers over 200 square feet in residential zones. Ordinance 26-19, also approved unanimously, allows up to four billboards per state route in gateway areas with strict setback, lighting, and glare-reduction requirements.
The Council awarded a 3.04 million dollar contract to DeMaio Electrical for a PFAS water treatment facility and approved a 409,734 dollar ambulance purchase, contingent on New Jersey Infrastructure Bank clearance. A proposal to vacate a portion of Iowa Avenue was defeated on a 3-2 vote.
